New York lawmakers on Wednesday added protections against the use of artificial intelligence to pending state legislation that would enact far-reaching labor protections in the fashion industry.
Legislators amended the New York State Fashion Workers Act (SB 2477) so that it would require agencies to receive written consent from models before they could use their digital likenesses in fashion campaigns. State lawmakers are pushing the legislation following a series of controversies involving artificial intelligence and workers.
